I do hope you give this a shot. You’ll find that it tastes a lot better than the stuff you got in the stores. Besides, you have control over the ingredients you use and, if you make it on a regular basis it does work out to be a lot cheaper. This cereal is way more filling than your run of the mill boxed variety, so you may want to take that into consideration when you pour yourself a bowl. One cup of cereal is enough to fill me up easily. Just keep that in mind when pouring yourself a bowl 😉

Steps

1
Done

In a small bowl combine the vegan butter and the coconut syrup. Give out a stir, then put in the microwave for about a minute until it's melted;

2
Done

Preheat your oven to 150ºC;

3
Done

In a large mixing bowl, add the oats and the melted mixture. Mix it up really well until all the oats are coated;

4
Done

Turn the mixture out onto a nonstick cookie sheet. Spread the mixture out fairly evenly and just pop that in the oven for 10 minutes.

5
Done

When it's been 15 minutes, pull the trail out, get a flipper and turn the mixture over.
(If there are any dark pets at the edges, just try to mix them into the center).
Even it out with a spatula and then put it back in the oven for another 15 minutes;

6
Done

After 15minutes, pull the trail out, take a spatula and press the mixture flat. Let it cool off completely for, at least 30min.
Note: This step is really important: by letting it cool off completely, that's how you're going to get the chunks. If you don´t, it's all just going to break up in little pieces.

7
Done

With a spatula, carefully, "peel off" the cereals of the cooking sheet.
Note: You don't have to worry about breaking the cereals up, it will do that on its own in a container

And that´s how you make oat cereals from scratch!
